ABOUT

Hello, dolls.

That's me.
This is my diary.  A little about life.  A lot about fashion, design and art.
First and foremost, I'm a momma (not a regular mom, a cool mom, duh), to an amazing little tot named Aiden.  He's my world and the driving force behind most of what it is that I do.

I own a little hipster store called The Purple Zebra, which is located in not so hipster Bloomsburg, PA.  Lucky for me, Bloomsburg is home to Bloomsburg University, which brings in over 10,000 college students to our quaint little town every fall.

I based much of my business plan on that exact concept.  Certainly someone needed to provide these students with somewhere suitable to shop, and it just so happened that I was permanently laid off of my job as a Designer/Product Developer, with no job prospects on the horizon.  After about two months of basically living in the construction site of my downtown space, I opened the doors to the store in October 2010 during Bloom U's homecoming weekend.  The response couldn't have been better, and there is not a day that goes by that I'm not ridiculously thankful to be doing something that I enjoy this much.

While I do design a lot of my own clothes, most of the merchandise in the store comes from LA, and much of it is actually made in America.  Keep it stateside, baby.  I hand select each piece of merchandise that comes into the store, and only allow 3-6 pieces of the same to ever be sold.  Since Bloomsburg is still a small town, no one wants to be walking around in the same look!

While thinking of a fun summer project to take on while the slow season rolls in and the college students leave, I thought about launching my own little line, which will be sold here at the store.  I wanted to keep it small and fairly simple, since I will be sewing it all myself, and it still needs to be affordable.  I thought of the aptly titled name of the line, Good & Pretty, since my last name is Good, and well lets face it, who doesn't want to be pretty?  As of right now, the line merely consists of the Good & Pretty Tube (my little invention that can be worn 3 ways), and a variety of different headband styles. Check em out below!  Shout out to Eddie Donlin, my fabulous photog who provides me with so many amazing images for all of my print work as well as artwork throughout the store!  And of course I have to give a shout out to all of my zebra girls that let me dress them up in whatever I feel like for our grueling photo shoots!

I also have a degree in Interior Design, and do some design and custom sewing out of the store as well.

That's Aiden

There's one last thing I must share with you.  Aiden, of course!  He's always helping his momma with things at the store, and this is a recent photo of him playing doorman at a recent model casting at The Purple Zebra.  He thinks he's a rock star, and he kind of is.  He recently turned two this June, and I've somehow managed to train him to do many things for me at the store, such as handing customers change, stapling receipts (under supervision of course), vacuuming, and of course rearranging the sunglasses rack.  He's sort of like the little mascot at the store, and the college girls love him up (and he loves them just as much).  Sometimes he even sneaks into their dressing rooms when I'm not looking and thinks he's playing peek a boo.  Hopefully I don't get any lawsuits anytime soon! ;-)
